> Become a Tutor:
Imagine for a moment that you couldn't read or speak English. This frightening thought should help you to realize the limitations that this can place on people - not being able to pass a driver's permit test or ask for a job application. How do you advance in life without language skills?
Volunteers must have either a High School diploma or a GED and attend a Tutor Training Workshop given by the professional staff of LVWC.
Each tutor is then matched with a student, or small group of students, who meet once or twice a week for 1 1/2 to 2 hours a session.
Tutoring takes place in libraries throughout the county and in such special settings as Adult Basic Education Centers or Head Start Centers.
